1400 miles; 210 early mornings when my legs were awake before my head; 36 icy speedwork sessions on numb legs around the reservoir; 6 hot and sticky hill repeats up and down and up and down the Harlem Hills. 17 days when I felt like I could run forever; 24 days when I felt like I couldn’t run another step. 3 near collisions with crazy bikers; 2 freak thunderstorms that almost killed the Garmin; hundreds of mud puddles splashed through on the Bridle Path; dozens guys who got chicked when it was supposed to be an easy day. 2 half marathon PR’s in the middle of 20 milers; 9 achilles tendonitis flare-ups, 6 blisters; 3 trashed pairs of Asics Gel Nimbus; sweat, tears, victories and defeats. More long runs than I can count. 1400 miles of freedom from traffic lights, wailing sirens, idiotic cab drivers, late rent checks and tourists who take up the whole sidewalk. Thousands of dollars saved that would otherwise have been spent on therapy and/or illegal drugs.
I really do love love LOVE Central Park. It’s the only thing I’m going to miss about NYC- It’s truly runners’ paradise and I have been there at 5:45 AM and 9:00 PM and there are always lots of other people and the Central Park Precint making sure everyone is safe! There are hills, flat paths, dirt, pavement, grass, trees, water fountains, cute dogs, lakes…it’s the best and safest place I’ve ever trained and it’s been a life saver having the park a mere mile away from my apartment! Although I am very much looking forward to running in the Green Mountains and getting back my mountain running skills again ;-)
I had such an amazing run yesterday morning. Just an average run of the mill 6 miler, but man it was one of those runs where I was just in it, where I’m sure my legs could keep running forever, where I’m sure I’m making this whole running thing look ridiculously easy and it’s as close as I’ll ever get to flying. I needed a good run since my outside runs have been pretty craptastic lately, thanks to the heat and then feeling so exhausted. Aaahh, I could have run all day.
When I first started running, my mileage was being added to the previous run I did with el Garmino. He's so tricky like that. I realized it at around 0.2 miles and started a new run, hence the 5.91 miles total shown on the Garmin but the 6 miles total for the run!
Before the run I chomped a PB Clif Bar. I was super hungry…despite the fact that I ate a White Chocolate Macadamia Clif Bar after dinner last night AND woke up hungry at 1 AM and had a slice of spelt bread with raw almond butter and jam. Crazy metabolism much??

'Twas a bit dark & gloomy out, sorry for the dark picture!
Post-run I got ready for work and walked the pup, then made the only thing that had been on my mind all morning- a yogurt & granola bowl!

I had a container of So Delicious vanilla coconut milk yogurt with granola, strawberries and a spoonful of peanut butter. It was even better than yesterday thanks to the pb!
I am seriously so over work right now. I only have four more days, and it’s always the last few days that are the hardest because I just. don’t. care. I can make it though!
One of my coworkers was super nice and bought me lunch though! Free food!!!! I got a big salad with romaine, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, tons of chickpeas (I’m the obnoxious girl who asks for double chickpeas), EVOO & balsamic. I didn't have my camera with me and can't find a pic of a Guy & Gallard salad online, but here's what the cafe looks like (although this isn't the location mine was from...but they all look pretty much the same!).
I really love Guy & Gallard- their make-your-own salad bar is perfect for when I don't have time to make lunch, want to eat tons of veggies, and don't want to spend much money! I didn’t get to eat until 2:45 due to lots of work piling up and annoying phone calls and visitors, and I was kind of out of it by then- I need my food! I also had an apple. Then proceeded to think about the 7080342 other things that I needed to do rather than sit at work all the live-long day. Blaaahhh.
I’ve been craving a sweet potato for a while, so I stopped at the grocery after work and picked up a huge one. I loooove these with hummus- don’t knock it til you try it- and of course with ketchup! I cut that baby up and steamed it. Sweet potatoes are one of my favorite carbalicious foods and a great way to fill up those glycogen stores the night before a long run ;-) I swear there was hummus, I just dipped straight from the container cuz I'm classy like that.

I like to buy Organicville agave-sweetened ketchup- it just tastes better than the other organic brands that use sugar.

Although it’s kind of pricey…but let's get real, everything I eat is pretty pricey. I just like to think of it as an investment in my health, and I don't plan on needing to spend exorbitant amounts of money in medical bills and pills later in life because of the healthy lifestyle I choose to live :)
After dinner, I really wanted nothing more than to lay on my couch and watch some mindless TV right now, so since I don’t have cable I popped in season 2 of Big Love, courtesy of Netflix, and vegged out. I only got through one episode because I was tired! I snacked on a slice of spelt bread with raw almond butter & jam before calling it a night.

Bad pic, good food! I'll be back later tonight with today's recap, including a successful 16-miler!
